Truth in Translation

From the translation footnotes on a 1870 edition of "A Swiss Family Robinson"; speaking of Jean Jacques Rousseau
"--A great French writer, born 1712, died 1775; the author of "Julie, ou La Nouvelle Heloise," and other works. His genius was of a morbid and brooding character ; brilliant, but unhealthy" -- William Henry Davenport Adams - London, 1870

Rousseau was technically Swiss not French (though he is commonly associated as French); and he actually died in 1778; but his mind was indeed unhealthy.
